Day Trip in Ngorongoro Highlands

Start your day early with a drive from Karatu to the Ngorongoro Highlands, a lush and scenic region surrounding the Ngorongoro Crater. Unlike the crater floor, the highlands offer hiking, cultural visits, and stunning views.

Begin with a guided nature walk or hike through the rolling hills, forests, and farmlands. You’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the crater rim and surrounding valleys, with a chance to see birds, wildlife, and unique plant life.

Visit a nearby Maasai village to learn about their traditional lifestyle, or hike to places like Empakaai or Olmoti Crater, where you can walk down into the crater or around the rim.

Enjoy a packed picnic lunch with panoramic views. In the afternoon, explore more of the highlands or relax before heading back to your lodge or town. In late evening you will start return to arusha for depart and that will be the end of your safari.
