Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, our guide will warmly welcome you and give a brief introduction to your upcoming journey. You will then be transferred to your hotel in Kigali to check in and relax after your travels. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner before settling in for a comfortable overnight stay, ensuring you’re well-rested for the adventures ahead.

Day 2

Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park, En-route Activities

Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park, En-route Activities

After breakfast, begin your journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Enjoy scenic views of Rwanda’s rolling hills and lush farmlands along the way. Stop at the King’s Palace in Nyanza for a cultural tour and continue to Rwesero to visit the Cultural Museum.

Proceed to Butare for lunch, followed by a visit to the Rwanda National Museum.

Arrive at Nyungwe in the late afternoon, check in at Chimpanzee Lodge, and relax for the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3

Chimpanzee trekking adventure in Nyungwe Forest

You will have an early morning breakfast and then report to the park headquarters in Nyungwe Forest for a briefing before going for chimpanzee tracking, however, it is advisable to go with a packed lunch and plenty of water before this expedition, since it can sometimes last over 6 hours. In the forest, you will not only see chimpanzees. You will also see a variety of animals and birds like the Rwenzori Turaco, white casqued hornbill, and black and white colobus monkeys, among others. Return late in the afternoon to your lodge for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 4

After an early breakfast, head out for the famous canopy walk — a 50-meter-long suspended bridge that offers a stunning bird’s-eye view of Nyungwe’s rainforest. Enjoy the chance to spot birds, monkeys, and other wildlife in the treetops and below.

Return to the lodge late in the morning and spend the rest of the day at leisure, relaxing in the serene lodge surroundings.

Day 5

Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Have an early breakfast, then check out of the lodge and begin your transfer to Ruhengeri. Along the way, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for an engaging and interactive experience of Rwandan traditions, culture, and daily life.

Continue to Ruhengeri, arriving in the late afternoon.

Day 6

After breakfast, you will head to the Virunga Forest for an exciting golden monkey tracking experience. At the park headquarters, you'll join other visitors for a short briefing from the ranger guides before entering the forest in search of these rare and playful primates.

Once you locate the golden monkeys, you'll have the chance to observe them as they leap through the bamboo trees and feed on shoots. You are welcome to take as many photos as you'd like during the one-hour visit.

Day 7

Gorilla Trekking in the Heart of Volcanoes National Park

Gorilla Trekking in the Heart of Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing by the ranger guides. You’ll then set off into the misty forest, guided by experts, in search of a gorilla family. The trek can take 2–3 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location, and once you find them, you’ll spend a magical hour in their presence—observing their social behaviors and interactions that are strikingly similar to humans.

Along the way, you may also encounter other forest residents such as monkeys, various bird species, and other wildlife.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 8

Return to Kigali and continue to Akagera National Park

Return to Kigali and continue to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, you will depart for Kigali, where you’ll enjoy lunch and take a short city tour that includes a visit to the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site. Afterwards, you will continue your journey to Akagera National Park.

Along the way, you’ll travel through Rwanda’s stunning landscapes, offering beautiful views and a glimpse into local life.

Upon arrival at Akagera, you will head out for an afternoon game drive in the southern section of the park. Keep an eye out for a variety of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and different species of antelope.

After an early breakfast, you will head out for a Northern Circuit game drive in Akagera National Park. This drive offers another chance to spot wildlife you may have missed during the previous game drive. Some animals are more active in the early morning, making it the perfect time for sightings.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for a short rest before enjoying lunch. In the afternoon, you will embark on a scenic boat ride on Lake Ihema. This relaxing experience offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills and swamps, with opportunities to see hippos, crocodiles, and various water birds.
