Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park & Boat Safaris

You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and transferred to the ferry terminal for the 7:00am departure to Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival, you will meet your professional driver-guide for a scenic four to five-hour drive to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve). On arrival at the park, enjoy a hot lunch at the camp followed by a short rest in preparation for the afternoon adventure.

At 4:00pm, embark on an exciting evening boat safari along the Rufiji River, lasting approximately two and a half hours. This relaxing yet thrilling experience offers the chance to spot a wide variety of bird species, as well as large numbers of crocodile and hippo in their natural environment.

As the sun sets over the river, you will return to the lodge for a delicious dinner and your overnight stay at Mloka Safari Lodge, a cosy and comfortable retreat located just outside the park – the perfect end to your first day in the wild.

Game Drive in Nyerere National Park

After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will set out on a full-day game drive with packed lunch boxes. Stop for a picnic lunch at a scenic spot selected by your guide before continuing to explore the vast landscapes of Nyerere National Park. Here, you may encounter lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, giraffes, rhinos, leopards, wild dogs, hyenas, impalas, wildebeests and a diverse array of bird species. In the late afternoon, you will return to your lodge for an evening of relaxation, followed by dinner and your overnight stay.

Nyerere National Park to Zanzibar Island

After a leisurely breakfast at Mloka Safari Lodge, you will visit a Maasai village for a two-hour cultural experience, offering insight into their unique traditions and way of life. Following the visit, you will begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam with a packed lunch provided. Enjoy a scenic drive with a stop along the way for a picnic lunch before continuing to the city.

Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will head to the ferry terminal for your return trip to Zanzibar. Once in Zanzibar, our driver will meet you and transfer you back to your hotel.
