Day 1

Arusha to Serengeti National Park

Arusha to Serengeti National Park

Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up in Arusha. From here, you’ll journey westward on a scenic 6-hour drive to Serengeti National Park. Along the way, watch as Tanzania’s diverse landscapes transition from rural countryside to the endless plains of the Serengeti—a name meaning “endless plains” in the Maasai language. The Serengeti spans over 14,700 sq. km and is home to the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. You’ll also spot impalas, giraffes, and birdlife. The Central Serengeti, especially the Seronera region, is a year-round wildlife hotspot, thanks to the Seronera River, which draws animals from across the plains. En route, you’ll stop for a picnic lunch and begin your first game drive as you enter the park. Look out for granite outcrops known as kopjes, which shelter predators and prey alike. The day ends as you arrive at Friends Serengeti Camp, where you’ll enjoy a warm welcome, dinner under the stars, and a restful night in your tented suite.

Full day Game drive Serengeti National Park

After a hearty breakfast, head out for a full-day safari across the Serengeti plains. Serengeti is world-renowned for its incredible biodiversity, and today’s game drive will take you through its most spectacular areas. Witness the abundance of wildlife, including the majestic Big Five—lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos—as well as thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes.

In the dry season, you may witness the awe-inspiring Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras trek across the Serengeti in search of fresh grazing grounds. Serengeti is also home to an array of predators, such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards, so there’s never a dull moment.

Enjoy a packed lunch at a scenic picnic site within the park and then continue your safari exploration throughout the day. As the sun sets, return to your Friends Serengeti Camp for a delicious dinner and a restful evening.

The crater floor is teeming with diverse ecosystems, from grassy plains to swampy areas, each home to a different set of animals and birds.
