Arrival at Mabula Game Lodge

Located just a 3-hour drive from Johannesburg, Mabula Game Lodge welcomes guests between 12:00pm and 12:30pm. Arriving slightly early allows you to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch before check-in. From 1:30pm, you can check into your comfortable room and freshen up before the afternoon safari.

Afternoon game drives depart at 3:30pm (winter) and 4:30pm (summer). Your first open-vehicle safari, led by experienced rangers, offers the chance to spot the Big Five and other incredible wildlife.

Returning from the bush, a gourmet buffet dinner is served between 7:00pm and 9:00pm in the lodge's restaurant. The rest of the evening is yours to unwind—whether it is enjoying a drink at the bar, relaxing by the fireplace or stargazing under the African sky.

Mabula Game Lodge and the Big Five

Your day begins with an early morning game drive led by expert rangers in open safari vehicles, typically departing at 6:30am (winter) and 5:30am (summer). This is a great time to spot elephants, rhinos, lions and more as the bush awakens. After your drive, enjoy a hearty buffet breakfast served from 7:00am.

Spend the late morning at your leisure—relax by the pool, unwind in your room or visit the spa (optional). Lunch is served between 12:30pm and 1:30pm with light and hearty options, often with views of passing wildlife. From 1:30pm to 3:30pm, enjoy free time or optional activities such as horseback safaris, quad biking or a massage.

The afternoon game drive departs at 13:30pm (winter) and 4:30 pm (summer), offering another chance to explore the wild.

Return to the lodge for a gourmet buffet dinner served between 7:00pm and 9:00pm, ending the day with great food and warm hospitality.

Sunrise Safari and Departure from Mabula Game Lodge

Start your final day with an early morning game drive—departing at 6:30am (winter) and 5:30am (summer). Led by experienced rangers in open safari vehicles, this is your chance to spot iconic wildlife such as elephants, rhinos, lions, and more during the peaceful dawn hours.

From 7:00am, a hearty buffet breakfast will be served, offering the perfect opportunity to relax and reflect on your safari experience. Between 9:30am and 10:00am, return to your room to freshen up and complete your final preparations.

Check-out is at 10:00am, after which you will begin your journey back to Johannesburg or continue on to your next destination.
