Samburu | A Journey Through Untamed Beauty

Begin your day with a gourmet breakfast at Sarova Shaba Game Lodge, nestled along the Ewaso Nyiro River. Today is all about exploring the raw beauty of Samburu National Reserve. Head out on morning and afternoon game drives in a private 4x4 vehicle, guided by an expert who will help you track the region’s unique wildlife—including the Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx.

With fewer crowds and dramatic landscapes of rugged hills and riverine forests, Samburu offers a more secluded and intimate safari experience. Between game drives, enjoy a delicious picnic in the wild or return to the lodge for a leisurely lunch and poolside relaxation.

As the sun sets, sip sundowners by the river, then enjoy a refined dinner under the stars—perhaps with a touch of Samburu cultural entertainment. A perfect blend of adventure, luxury, and authenticity.

Fly-in to the Mara wildlife

Fly-in to the Mara wildlife

This morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Samburu Airstrip for the 09:15 am flight to Masai Mara, which takes about 60 min. You will be met on arrival by our driver-guide and enjoy a game drive en route to your camp, arriving at the camp in good time for check-in and lunch. After lunch, you'll embark on your first game drive in this rich wildlife sanctuary, also known as the 'eighth wonder of the animal world', returning to the camp at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.

One of our favorite places to look for wildlife in Kenya is the Masai Mara National Reserve. That's because the wildlife here is incredible, with big cats (lions, leopards, and cheetahs) and elephants among the highlights. There's a very good chance you'll also see giraffes, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and, of course, impalas. Bring your binoculars, because more than 500 species of birds have been recorded in the reserve.

Masai Mara National Reserve
Best Time To Visit June to October (For general wildlife viewing) and July or August to October (For wildebeest migration)

Upon landing, enjoy a lavish bush breakfast with champagne amidst the wild, an unforgettable start to your day.
