Day 1

Nairobi – Meru National Park

Nairobi – Meru National Park

Depart Nairobi early in the morning and embark on a scenic road journey through the central highlands and into the remote wilderness of Meru National Park. The drive offers glimpses of Mount Kenya, lush farmlands, and rural Kenyan life. Arrive at Elsa’s Kopje, a stunning eco-lodge perched on Mughwango Hill, in time for lunch. After some rest and enjoying the sweeping views from your luxurious cottage, set out for your first afternoon game drive. The park’s landscape is a dramatic mix of riverine forests, doum palms, and open grasslands—home to a diverse range of wildlife including elephants, lions, cheetahs, rare Grevy’s zebras, and over 400 bird species. Return to the lodge for sundowners and a gourmet dinner under the stars.

Day 2

Meru National Park

Meru National Park

After a hearty breakfast, venture out for a full-day game viewing experience with a picnic lunch. Today you’ll explore more remote corners of the park, including the Murera and Rojewero rivers, where crocodiles bask and hippos wallow. Visit the Rhino Sanctuary, a secure area within the park that protects both black and white rhinos—an excellent opportunity for close sightings. Meru’s relative isolation means fewer visitors and more intimate encounters with wildlife. In the afternoon, you might visit the site of Elsa the lioness’s grave, made famous by Joy and George Adamson’s story Born Free. Return to the lodge for a relaxing evening, perhaps enjoying a dip in the infinity pool overlooking the park, followed by a candle-lit dinner.
