Mikumi National Park is a sprawling 3,230 km² wildlife reserve in southern Tanzania, located about a 4–5 hour drive from Dar es Salaam along the main highway to Iringa and the Selous Game Reserve. Situated on the Mkata floodplain, Mikumi is flanked by the Uluguru and Youvunduma/Udzungwa mountain ranges. The park blends open grasslands, miombo woodlands, acacia and baobab-studded plains — together they form ecosystems reminiscent of the Serengeti.
