Day 1

Your day will begin early with breakfast at your lodge. A driver from Big Apes Africa will be ready to pick you up and provide a briefing about your safari as you begin your journey to the southwestern region of Uganda. The drive to Bwindi will take you through the scenic countryside of the Kigezi Highlands, a region known for its rolling hills, lush vegetation, and breathtaking landscapes. The journey takes approximately 9 hours, including stops along the way. With the beautiful views throughout the drive, the hours will pass quickly. Lunch will be enjoyed en route, and before you know it, you will arrive at the lodge for check-in, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2

Gorilla trekking and Transfer to Ishasha Sector

Gorilla trekking and Transfer to Ishasha Sector

Today you will start with a briefing at the park headquarters in preparation for your Gorilla trekking adventure. You will be distributed in groups of 8 each to trek a particular gorilla family assigned a park ranger who will be leading you into the forest. At a fee of 20 dollars, you can hire a porter to carry your bag and offer a hand on the slippery parts of the trail. Upon finding these magnificent gentle giants you are allowed one hour to observe their natural behaviors, daily routines and social interactions.
After the magical hour you will trek back to the park headquarters the length varies and you will be awarded certificate of participation. You will have your packed lunch from the lodge and drive to Ishasha located in the southern side of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive will take you about 4 hours to get there and upon arrival you will check into your pre-booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Game drive and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today, after breakfast at the lodge, you will head out for a game drive through the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions. The drive begins at an ideal time to spot lions lounging on the tree branches. You'll see these majestic predators lounging in acacia trees, a rare behavior as lions typically spend most of their time on the ground. In the Ishasha sector however, this unique sight is quite common and you're welcome to take photos of this extraordinary scene.
In addition to the tree-climbing lions, you'll also spot a variety of other wildlife that roam the area, including elephants, buffaloes, and Uganda kob, among others. After the game drive, you’ll continue your journey from Ishasha through the main part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, heading toward the Mweya Peninsula. Upon arrival, you'll check into your lodge and retire for the day.

Day 4

Game drive and Boat Trip

Your day will begin with breakfast, after which your driver will take you to the Kasenyi Plains in Queen Elizabeth National Park for a game drive. Known for its vast savannah and abundant wildlife especially large mammals such as elephants and buffaloes, keep an eye out for lions and if you're lucky, leopards. Other wildlife you may encounter includes Uganda kob, hyenas, and many more. After the exciting game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and later on, head to the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George for a boat trip. Along the way, you’ll spot crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes and elephants, especially during the hotter hours of the day when animals come to drink water. After the boat ride, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5

Chimp trekking at Kalinzu and Transfer to Entebbe

Chimp trekking at Kalinzu and Transfer to Entebbe

Your day will begin as early as 6:00 AM. After breakfast, your driver will take you to Kalinzu Forest where you will meet the guide rangers at the forest headquarters who will brief you about the chimpanzee trekking experience.
After the briefing, you will be assigned a guide to lead you through the forest. The trek can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzees on that particular day. Once the chimpanzees are found, you will be allowed to spend one hour observing them as they feed, play, and groom each other.
After the experience, you will trek back to the forest headquarters, where you will meet your driver. You will then be taken for lunch and begin the journey back to Entebbe International Airport. If time permits, you will make a stop at the Equator for souvenir shopping you will continue on the journey to Entebbe and arrive before the time for your flight back home.
