Upon arrival in Nyerere National Park, you'll be welcomed by your safari guide and transferred to your lodge or tented camp. After lunch and some rest, embark on an afternoon game drive through the park’s vast landscapes. With its rich wildlife, you'll have the chance to spot elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, lions, and possibly even the elusive wild dogs.

As you explore the woodlands, open plains, and riverbanks, your guide will share insights into animal behavior, tracks, and ecology. With fewer vehicles than other parks, you’ll enjoy a more exclusive and intimate wildlife experience. As the sun begins to set in vibrant hues of orange and gold, return to your lodge for dinner and relaxation, falling asleep to the sounds of nature around you.

Return to the lodge for a delicious lunch and a bit of rest before embarking on an afternoon boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. This river-based experience is a highlight of Nyerere and offers a completely different perspective on wildlife. Cruise past pods of hippos wallowing in the water, crocodiles sunbathing on the banks, and a variety of birdlife including kingfishers, fish eagles, and herons. You may also see elephants or antelope coming down to drink. Enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the river as the day ends with a stunning riverside sunset.

Bush walk and village tour

Start your final day with a guided bush walk—a rare and thrilling opportunity to explore the African wilderness on foot. Led by an experienced ranger, you’ll learn to identify animal tracks, bird calls, plants, and insects while gaining a new appreciation for the park’s smaller wonders. This up-close experience offers a deeper connection to the land and its wildlife. After returning to camp and enjoying breakfast, you’ll head out for a visit to a nearby rural village. Here, you’ll interact with local residents, witness traditional farming practices, visit a school or marketplace (depending on timing), and get a feel for daily life in southern Tanzania. This cultural immersion balances your wildlife experience with human connection, providing a well-rounded safari adventure. After the tour, return to the lodge, freshen up, and transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Zanzibar or onward destination, carrying unforgettable memories of Nyerere’s untamed beauty.
