After an early breakfast, we depart around 6:30 a.m. for a game drive in Serengeti National Park, spending 6 to 7 hours exploring its vast plains and rich wildlife. The Serengeti is home to impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos, but it’s most famous for the Great Migration—over 1.5 million wildebeests, 250,000 zebras, and 500,000 antelopes moving in search of greener pastures. This natural spectacle varies each year depending on rainfall. Alongside the herds, we may spot predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards in action. Around 14:00, we begin the drive back to Karatu, arriving in the early evening. You’ll check in at our trusted mid-range lodge partner, Eileen’s Tree Inn. An early breakfast will be served at the lodge before we depart for Lake Manyara National Park. Located approximately 120 km west of Arusha, this compact yet ecologically diverse park is named after the shallow alkaline lake that covers nearly seventy percent of its surface area. The lake, which fluctuates seasonally, is a sanctuary for thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species. During our game drive, we may encounter an array of wildlife including monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and if we're fortunate tree-climbing lions for which the park is famously known. Lake Manyara is celebrated not only for its rich wildlife but also for its varied landscapes, ranging from grassy floodplains to dense woodlands and towering cliffs dotted with baobab trees. After a packed lunch, we return to Arusha, arriving in time for your onward flight either back home or to the exotic island of Zanzibar, marking the end of an unforgettable journey.
