Nairobi to Amboseli

Depart Nairobi early in the morning and travel south through the scenic Athi Plains, passing expansive savannah landscapes and traditional Maasai homesteads along the way. The drive offers excellent photographic opportunities and a gradual transition from urban life to wilderness. Arrive at Amboseli National Park around midday and proceed to your lodge or tented camp for check-in and a well-deserved lunch. After a short rest, head out for an afternoon game drive in this iconic park, renowned for its dramatic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, weather permitting. Amboseli is particularly famous for its large herds of elephants, often seen roaming freely across the open plains. You may also encounter lions, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and a rich variety of birdlife concentrated around the swamps. As the sun sets behind Mount Kilimanjaro, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Amboseli to Nairobi

Begin your day with an early morning breakfast before departing for a game drive while wildlife is most active. The cool morning hours provide excellent chances to spot predators such as lions and cheetahs before they retreat from the rising heat. Continue exploring different sections of the park, including visits to the swamp areas that attract elephants, hippos, and numerous bird species. Later in the morning, drive to Observation Hill, where you can stretch your legs and enjoy sweeping panoramic views of Amboseli’s plains, marshlands, and Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. At midday, enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated scenic site within the park. After lunch, exit Amboseli and begin your return journey to Nairobi, arriving in the evening with lasting memories of an unforgettable short safari experience.
