Arrival – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park & Nature Walk

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, meet your guide and begin the scenic 2.5-hour drive to Musanze, near Volcanoes National Park. Check in at your lodge and relax after the journey. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided nature walk around the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo or explore local trails with views of the Virunga volcanoes. Optional visit to Iby’iwacu Cultural Village for insight into Rwandan traditions. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Golden Monkey Trekking & Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After an early breakfast, head to Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for a 7:00 am briefing. Begin your Golden Monkey trekking adventure at 8:00 am—hike through bamboo forests to observe these energetic and playful primates in their natural habitat. Spend one magical hour with them, then return to the lodge to freshen up and have lunch. In the afternoon, transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park via the Cyanika border (1–1.5 hrs). Arrive in Kisoro, check in at your lodge, and relax as you prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking. Dinner and overnight stay near Mgahinga.

Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga & Transfer to Kigali

Start your day with an early breakfast and head to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park headquarters for a 7:00 am briefing. Begin your gorilla trekking adventure through the forested slopes of the Virunga Mountains. The trek may take 2–6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once found, spend a powerful and unforgettable hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, begin your scenic transfer back to Kigali (approx. 4–5 hours), with an optional stop at the Rwanda–Uganda border crafts market. Arrive in Kigali in the evening for drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
