Gondar – Debark – Sankaber Camp

Departure from Gondar (approx. 7:30 AM). Meet your guide and driver for a 2.5-hour drive (100 km) to Debark, the gateway town to the Simien Mountains National Park.
Late Morning to Early Afternoon:Begin your drive into the park via a rugged but scenic road to Buyit Ras (approx. 40-minute drive). Start your trek to Sankaber (approx. 2–3 hours, moderate hike)
Trail passes through highland meadows and escarpments with views of deep valleys, plunging cliffs, and vast plateaus. Keep an eye out for Gelada baboons. Easily spotted in large troops grazing the grasslands and cliffs.
Afternoon: Arrive at Sankaber Camp (3,250m), where you'll enjoy views of the lowlands far below and possibly spot Lammergeiers (bearded vultures) circling overhead.
Short hike (optional): Walk 20–30 minutes to a stunning waterfall dropping 500 meters into the valley below the Jinbar Waterfall, a dramatic sight, especially in the rainy season.
Evening: Settle in at Sankaber camp, where tents and meals are arranged.

Sankaber – Geech Valley Viewpoints – Return to Gondar

Morning: Early breakfast at camp and pack for a morning hike (approx. 3–4 hours round trip)
Hike along the escarpment ridge toward the Geech Abyss and panoramic viewpoints like Kedadit or Saha Gorge. This stretch offers the most photogenic views in the park: a mosaic of gorges, alpine meadows, and dramatic drop offs.
Spot more wildlife: Geladas, klipspringers, bushbuck, and if you're lucky, a distant glimpse of the Walia ibex, endemic to this region.
Late Morning: Return to Sankaber for lunch or packed snack depending on pace.
Afternoon: Hike back toward Buyit Ras, where your vehicle will be waiting.
Drive back to Debark, return scout gear, then continue the drive to Gondar, arriving by early evening (5:30 PM).
