Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Arusha or Moshi to the Machame Gate (1800m). After registration and briefing with your trekking crew, you’ll start hiking through the lush montane rainforest. This trail is often damp and rich with vegetation, home to colobus monkeys and colorful birds. The path gradually ascends to Machame Camp, where you’ll spend your first night on the mountain.

By afternoon, you’ll reach Shira Camp, situated on a high plateau that offers a dramatic sunset and a great spot for acclimatization.

Today is an important acclimatization day as you climb high and sleep low. The path leads you toward Lava Tower, a striking volcanic formation, where you’ll have lunch and rest briefly at high altitude. From there, descend gradually into the Barranco Valley, known for its unique giant groundsels and lobelia plants. You’ll arrive at Barranco Camp, nestled beneath the Great Barranco Wall.

Once at the top, traverse undulating valleys before finally reaching the alpine desert zone en route to Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt. At around midnight, begin your final push to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
