Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

You’ll embark on a scenic 5–6‑hour road journey from Nairobi through central highlands and Mount Kenya country, arriving at Samburu National Reserve by midday for check-in and lunch overlooking the Ewaso Ng’iro River
After lunch, you’ll head out on your first afternoon game drive along the riverbanks and semi-arid plains—where large herds of elephants, lions, leopards, and the rare Samburu Special Five (Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich) may be spotted. The day concludes with a sunset viewing followed by dinner and overnight at your lodge or tented camp in the bush.

Full-Day Game Drive in Samburu National Reserve

Begin early around for a morning drive across semi-arid plains and riverine zones along the Ewaso Ng’iro River, where you’ll likely see predators (lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs), elephants, and the iconic Samburu Special Five. Return for breakfast—either at camp or a scenic picnic—then resume mid‑afternoon for more wildlife viewing, including elephants by the river, crocodiles, diverse birdlife, and dramatic vistas often paired with a sundowner.

Samburu National Reserve to Nairobi

After breakfast, you’ll check out of your lodge followed by a scenic road transfer through central Kenya back to Nairobi, typically in a comfortable 4×4 safari vehicle. Upon reaching Nairobi in the afternoon, you’ll be dropped off at either your preferred city hotel or in the airport, ensuring a smooth conclusion to your safari itinerary.
