Transfer to Akagera National Park

You will be picked up at 08:00 from your hotel in Kigali and embark on a scenic drive to Akagera National Park with a brief rest stop at Imigongo Restaurant in Kayonza with Lunch inclusive. Akagera National Park, located in eastern Rwanda along the border with Tanzania, is a stunning savannah and wetland reserve renowned for being Rwanda’s only Big Five wildlife destination. Upon arrival, receive a short orientation at the park offices and then begin your introductory game drive, with chances to spot elephants, zebras, giraffes, and a wide range of bird species and later head to the lodge for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.

Boat Cruise & Game Drive

Start with a relaxed breakfast before heading to Lake Ihema for a 09:00 guided boat ride. Spot water birds like the papyrus gonolek and the elusive shoebill stork. Once done, head back to the jetty. Rejoin your guide for a full-day game drive exploring the southern giraffe area and the lakes road toward Birengero. Enjoy a hot lunch again at Lake Mihindi Restaurant. The afternoon is packed with chances to see buffalo, lions, antelope, and possibly even leopards or white rhinos.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Transfer to Kigali

After an early breakfast you will relax at the lodge enjoying the beautiful scenery as you prepare to embark on a journey from Akagera to Kigali. Enjoy a scenic detour with an optional cultural stop on your transfer depending on timing and interest.
Arrive in Kigali by midday for drop-off at your hotel or airport to catch your flight back home.
