Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport, you will be warmly received by our team and transferred to your hotel in Arusha for check-in and relaxation. If time allows, you may enjoy a short tour of Arusha Town. Located at the foot of Mount Meru, Arusha is the main hub for safaris in northern Tanzania. You will spend the night at the charming Arusha Planet Lodge.

Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, your Highneck safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation and drive you to Tarangire National Park, about two and a half hours away on well-paved roads. Named after the Tarangire River, the park is a vital water source during the dry season and attracts a wide variety of wildlife. It is especially famous for its large elephant herds, as well as sightings of giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, and predators like lions and leopards. The park also boasts the highest number of breeding bird species in the world and features magnificent baobab trees, some believed to be over a thousand years old.

You will enjoy lunch at a picnic site within the park, followed by a game drive before heading to your lodge in Karatu for the night.

After breakfast, you’ll drive into the higher, cooler elevations of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to stop and admire the stunning views of the Ngorongoro Crater. Continuing your journey, you'll transit through the conservation area and enter the southern region of Serengeti National Park.

The Serengeti is truly breathtaking, known for its endless grasslands that provide ideal conditions for spotting wildlife. You’re likely to see animals such as impalas, buffaloes, hippos, and crocodiles, along with predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards. After an exciting game drive, you’ll proceed to your lodge, arriving in time for dinner and overnight rest.

After breakfast, you’ll journey through the Serengeti en route to the northern region, enjoying game viewing along the way. While the Serengeti is rich in diverse wildlife, it is most renowned for the Great Migration an awe-inspiring movement of thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and antelope in search of fresh grazing. The migration occurs year-round, shifting locations with the seasons. During this time of year, the herds are typically found in the Northern Serengeti.

Your overnight stay will be at a comfortable mid-range seasonal tented camp.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

This morning, you'll make your way back through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying more wildlife sightings along the route, it's not uncommon to spot a journey of giraffes on the green slopes. You’ll arrive at the Ngorongoro Crater around lunchtime.

The crater appears like a hidden world, its steep volcanic walls enclosing untouched wilderness filled with sweeping savannahs, acacia forests, shimmering lakes, and swamps. Formed by a massive volcanic collapse two to three million years ago, it’s now a wildlife haven. As you descend into the crater, you’ll encounter herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species. This is also one of the best places to spot the endangered black rhino. After a thrilling afternoon game drive, you’ll continue to your lodge in Karatu for the night.

Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha

This morning, you’ll head to Lake Manyara National Park, your final stop on this incredible safari journey. Located about 120 km west of Arusha, Manyara is a small yet diverse park known for its dramatic scenery. The towering Great Rift Valley Escarpment forms its western edge, while the park’s shallow salt lake stretches across much of its area, attracting thousands of flamingos and over 500 bird species. In the dense evergreen forests, you may encounter baboons, elephants, and the park’s famous tree-climbing lions.
