Kruger Safari and Visit to Masorini Historical Site
Kruger Safari and Visit to Masorini Historical Site
Today, we leave the lodge after an early breakfast and make our way to the Kruger Park Gate, only a couple of minutes' drive from the lodge. From there, you get to enjoy your private safari, which will take you past riverine forests, small hills, savannah, and bushland all the way to Mopani.
One of the highlights of the day is a guided visit to one of the amazing African historical sites that are rarely frequented by tourists. Rather early on after entering the park, we reach the Masorini Historic Site, which is located on a small hill. The site was inhabited by the Sotho-speaking BaPhalaborwa during the 1800s, who developed an advanced and sophisticated industry of mining, smelting iron ore and trading in these iron products. There's a small museum, and a guide will take you on a short walk to see and discuss the reconstructed huts and furnaces.
We continue our drive for the rest of the day until we reach Mopani Rest Camp, our first camp on this tour. Your guide will serve dinner.

Day 4
Thulamela Historic Site and Kruger Park Safari
Thulamela Historic Site and Kruger Park Safari
Our day begins with a visit to the Historic Thulamela Site. This late Iron Age site forms part of what is known as the Zimbabwe culture, believed to have originated at Mapungubwe. Thulamela is a stone-walled site situated in the far northern region of the Kruger National Park. This site was built by Iron Age communities who lived in the area between AD 1400 and AD 1700, and it was of great significance due to its strategic positioning for trade within and outside of Africa.
After a short morning game drive, we arrive at Thulamela, and your guide will take you on an exploration of the area. Later, enjoy breakfast prepared by your guide, and then we will continue on our way deep into the far north of Kruger National Park to see some of the famous and iconic baobab trees, which only really start to grow at this latitude in the park.
Later, we return to the camp and your guide will prepare a delicious South African barbecue (braai) for you to celebrate your last night in Kruger.
