Formed by a volcanic collapse millions of years ago, the 260 km² crater hosts one of Africa’s densest populations of large mammals, including wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and the rare black rhino, along with over 500 bird species. Serengeti National Park to Karatu
The Serengeti is a breathtaking destination, renowned for its endless plains that offer exceptional wildlife viewing. Its untouched climate and vegetation have remained unchanged for millions of years. While the park is home to a rich variety of animals, it’s most famous for the Great Migration, massive herds of wildebeest, along with zebra and antelope, moving in search of fresh pasture. The key is knowing the best locations to witness the migration during each season. Alongside these dramatic scenes, you’re likely to spot top predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards. In the afternoon, you’ll begin your return drive to Karatu, with more wildlife sightings along the way.
