Arrival in Kigali and Drive to Akagera National Park

Your guide will pick you up in Kigali after breakfast for a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Akagera National Park. After park registration and check-in at your lodge, enjoy lunch with a view before heading to Lake Ihema for a relaxing afternoon boat safari. Spot hippos, crocodiles, water birds, and elephants along the shore.

Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise at Lake Ihema

Today you’ll set off at dawn for a full-day game drive from the southern to the northern sector of the park. This is the best time to spot predators like lions and leopards, as well as elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, and antelopes. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush and continue your drive through Akagera’s beautiful and diverse landscapes.

Drive back to Kigali

After an early breakfast, go for a shorter morning game drive to catch any animals you may have missed. Exit the park by mid-morning and begin your return drive to Kigali. Optional stopovers include Imigongo Art Center or coffee along the way. Arrive in Kigali in the afternoon, marking the end of your safari.
