2-Day Akagera Wildlife & Balloon Safari

Kigali - Akagera (2h30) drive

07:30 – Pickup from your Kigali hotel or residence and depart for Akagera National Park.
10:30 – Arrive at the park headquarters for registration and a short briefing.
Begin a guided game drive, exploring southern regions of the park and searching for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, antelopes, and dozens of bird species.
13:00 – Break for lunch at Lake Mihindi Restaurant inside the park.
14:30– transfer to lake ihema jetty for an afternoon boat ride that takes place at 15h30.
One done, continue the afternoon game drive with chances to spot predators and rhinos.
Evening – Check in at Mantis Akagera Game Lodge, enjoy dinner and a relaxed overnight.

Akagera - Kigali (Balloon safari & Game drive)

05:40 AM: Early morning pickup by Royal Balloon Safaris and transfer to the launch site. Soar over Akagera in a hot air balloon for stunning aerial views of the savannah, hills, and lakes.
08:00 AM: After landing near Lake Ihema, enjoy a scenic bush breakfast. You will then return to the lodge for check out. Please ensure you book your picnic box in advance to maximize time on the game drive later in the day.
After check-out, rejoin your guide for a final game drive through the park’s northern section, covering the giraffe area and open plains. This final leg offers excellent chances to spot herds of buffalo, elephants, zebras, impalas, elands, tsessebe, and rhinos. With a bit of luck, you may also encounter lions or even a leopard.
Lunch will be served at Lake Mihindi Restaurant, overlooking the lake and offering a relaxing break before the journey back to Kigali.
16:30: Exit the park and begin the drive back to Kigali. 19:00: Drop-off at your hotel or at the airport.
