04h30: Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park, passing through rolling green hills and local villages. (Please prebook your packed breakfast from the hotel where you are staying.)
Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you’ll receive a briefing before beginning the Dian Fossey tomb hike. This memorable trek takes you through lush forest trails to the site of Fossey’s original Karisoke Research Center, where you’ll visit her grave alongside those of the gorillas she studied and protected. The hike offers a meaningful glimpse into the history of gorilla conservation and the dense biodiversity of the park.
After the hike, you’ll transfer to your lodge for check-in and a well-earned lunch. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to rest and recharge. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in preparation for your mountain gorilla trek the following day.

06h00: Wake up to the crisp mountain air and the sounds of the forest coming to life. After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Here, expert guides will assign you to a gorilla family based on your fitness level and preferences.
The trek itself is an adventure, weaving through dense jungle, crossing streams, and navigating varied terrain. Along the way, your guide will share insights about the forest ecosystem, pointing out medicinal plants, bird species, and signs of other wildlife.
After descending from the forest, return to the lodge to freshen up and enjoy a well-deserved lunch. Later, visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, a state-of-the-art conservation center dedicated to protecting Rwanda’s gorillas and preserving their habitat.
As your journey comes to an end, begin the drive back to Kigali, passing through picturesque landscapes one last time.
