Your adventure begins after an early breakfast in Arusha, where your professional safari guide will greet you and brief you on the journey ahead. You’ll then drive southwest through picturesque landscapes and traditional Maasai villages toward Tarangire National Park, a gem renowned for its ancient baobab trees and the largest population of elephants in northern Tanzania. Upon arrival at the park gate, you’ll begin your first game drive, exploring its riverine habitats and open savannahs.
Expect to encounter herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, and possibly predators such as lions or leopards. The Tarangire River, a vital water source during the dry season, draws a rich variety of animals and birdlife. After an exciting wildlife experience, you’ll exit the park in the late afternoon and continue your journey to Karatu, a peaceful town nestled in the Ngorongoro Highlands, where you will check in, relax, and enjoy dinner.

After an early breakfast, you will begin your ascent through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing lush highlands and traditional Maasai homesteads. A brief stop at a viewpoint on the Ngorongoro Crater rim offers stunning panoramic views—perfect for photos. Continuing onward, you’ll descend onto the endless plains of the Serengeti, Tanzania’s most iconic park. After completing entry formalities at Naabi Hill Gate, you’ll begin an en route game drive deep into the Serengeti.
Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, and large herds of wildebeests and zebras that stretch to the horizon. Depending on the season, you may witness dramatic moments of the Great Migration. In the late afternoon, you’ll arrive at your safari lodge or tented camp, where you’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night in the heart of the wilderness, surrounded by the sounds of the savannah.

After an early breakfast, depart your lodge and drive back into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Once at the descent road, you’ll descend 600 meters into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest unbroken caldera. The fertile crater floor hosts an incredible concentration of wildlife, including elephants, hippos, lions, hyenas, flamingos, and the endangered black rhino.
You’ll enjoy a half-day game drive, with a picnic lunch at a shaded spot near the hippo pool or one of the crater’s scenic outlooks. In the early afternoon, ascend the crater rim and begin the return drive to Arusha Airport, arriving in time for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival on the island, you’ll be welcomed and transferred to your beach hotel, where you can relax and unwind by the Indian Ocean after your exhilarating safari.
