Lake Manyara Day Trip Itinerary

Your day begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel/lodge in Arusha by your professional safari guide. You’ll then drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a journey of about 2–2.5 hours through scenic landscapes and Maasai villages.

Upon arrival, you’ll begin your game drive through the park’s diverse ecosystems from lush forests and open grasslands to the shores of the alkaline lake. Keep an eye out for elephants, giraffes, baboons, hippos, and the park’s famous tree-climbing lions. Bird lovers will enjoy spotting flamingos, storks, and many other species.

You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park at a designated site, surrounded by nature. After lunch, continue your game viewing and exploration before starting the drive back to the Lodge in the late afternoon, arriving in the early evening.

After an early breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and depart for the iconic Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arrival, you will descend into the caldera via a steep trail to begin your final game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s largest intact volcanic calderas, offers an unparalleled concentration of wildlife. Home to over 25,000 animals, including the famed “Big Five” (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard), as well as more than 500 bird species, this unique ecosystem provides an extraordinary wildlife viewing experience. You will enjoy a scenic picnic lunch within the crater, surrounded by its dramatic landscapes. In the afternoon, you will ascend the crater rim and begin your return journey to Arusha, where you will arrive in the late afternoon, marking the conclusion of your safari adventure.
