Day 1

Your adventure begins with a scenic three and half hour drive from your hotel to Londorossi Gate (2,100m / 6,890ft) for registration and park entry formalities.
A short drive to Lemosho Glades marks the start of your trek. The trail winds gently through dense rainforest alive with bird calls, exotic flora, and—if you’re lucky—black-and-white colobus monkeys.
By late afternoon, you reach Mti Mkubwa Camp ("Big Tree") for dinner and your first night on the mountain.

Day 2
Mti Mkubwa to Shira 2 Camp

Leaving the forest behind, the trail climbs steadily into the moorland zone, passing giant heathers and volcanic ridges. You traverse the scenic Shira Plateau, one of Kilimanjaro’s most remarkable geological features, with sweeping views of Kibo Peak.
Today combines what would normally be two shorter days, making it a longer trek but aiding in acclimatization. You arrive at Shira 2 Camp in the late afternoon

Day 3

This is a key acclimatization day. You ascend gradually toward Lava Tower (4,630m / 15,190ft), a striking volcanic formation, where you stop for lunch. Afterward, you descend into the lush Barranco Valley, surrounded by towering cliffs and giant senecio plants.
Sleeping lower than you climbed today helps your body adapt for the summit push.

Day 4

You begin with the exhilarating Barranco Wall climb—a 600ft (183m) rock face that looks more intimidating than it feels. From the top, you traverse beneath Kibo’s glaciers before descending into Karanga Valley. After lunch, the trail ascends steadily to Barafu Camp (base camp), perched on a barren ridge with sweeping views.
An early dinner and rest prepare you for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 5

The summit push begins around midnight. By headlamp, you ascend steep switchbacks over loose scree to Stella Point (5,756m / 18,885ft) in time for sunrise. The final 1–2 hours along the crater rim lead you to Uhuru Peak (5,895m / 19,341ft), the highest point in Africa.
After celebrating at the summit, you descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for the night.

Day 6

Your final descent takes you through the lush rainforest, where you sign out at Mweka Gate and receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate.
You are then transferred back to your hotel for a hot shower, celebratory dinner, and a well-earned rest.
