Day 1

We will arrange a pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport and transfer you to our office for a briefing and to meet the group for the day’s departure. On the way from Nairobi to the Masai Mara, you will have two stops: the first at the viewpoint to see the escarpment wall of the Great Rift Valley, and the second at Narok Town for lunch. Upon arrival at the Masai Mara, check in and then embark on an afternoon game drive lasting at least three hours, continuing until sunset. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the campsite.

Have breakfast at the camp, then depart with a picnic lunch for a full-day game drive inside this savannah grassland game reserve. The Mara is a popular game reserve with a large number of animal species and a variety of birds. You will have at least nine hours of game viewing to explore its beauty. The park is well known for its Great Migration, and a game drive to the point where the crossing takes place is included. Optional activities afterward include a visit to a Maasai village or a nature walk. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the campsite.

Early in the morning, have a cup of tea or coffee before departing for a morning game drive. You will enjoy the sunrise and may track wildcats as they hunt their prey, potentially witnessing a kill. Later, return to the camp for a full breakfast before leaving the Masai Mara region for Lake Nakuru. We will make a stopover at Lake Naivasha for optional activities at an extra cost (if you desire). Upon arrival at Nakuru, check in at the hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

You will have breakfast, then depart for a half-day game drive at Lake Nakuru, which is known for its endangered rhinoceroses. Lake Nakuru is also famous for its flamingos, depending on the season and water levels. The other members of the “Big Three” can also be spotted in this park, except for elephants. Later, leave Lake Nakuru and head towards Nairobi, with lunch en route. Arriving late in the afternoon, you will be dropped at the hotel for dinner and your overnight stay The hotel is paid for on a bed-and-breakfast basis, with dinner at your own expense, giving you a chance to enjoy local Kenyan cuisine.

After breakfast at your hotel, the driver will pick you up around 8:00 am and transfer you to the Nairobi–Arusha shuttle bus for a five-hour drive. You will arrive in the afternoon between 2:00-3:00 pm, in time to check in at a hotel in Arusha for your overnight stay. The hotel is provided on a bed-and-breakfast basis, with dinner on your own to allow you to enjoy local Tanzanian cuisine.

Arusha - Serengeti National Park

Arusha - Serengeti National Park

After breakfast at your Arusha hotel, you’ll meet with our staff and driver-guide for a briefing about the upcoming trip. Depart Arusha and drive to Serengeti National Park, with lunch en route. Upon arrival at the main gate, you’ll complete registration, then continue with a game drive to the camp located in the Central Serengeti. This marks the start of the Tanzanian portion of your trip. Serengeti National Park is widely known for the Great Migration of wildebeest and its vast plains; it is also home to elephants, cheetahs, lions, giraffes, and exotic birds. Enjoy a scenic four-hour drive, a full-day game drive, and a late-evening game drive. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp.

After an early morning breakfast, you’ll depart for a final morning game drive before proceeding to the Ngorongoro Crater Conservancy area. Visit the Serengeti kopjes in search of a lion pride, enjoy a picnic lunch, then exit Serengeti National Park and drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. You will arrive in Ngorongoro late in the evening. Optional stopovers include a visit to Olduvai Gorge, the museum where early human remains were found, or a visit to the local community. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at a campsite.

Day 8

Ngongoro Crater - Arusha - Zanzibar

Ngongoro Crater - Arusha - Zanzibar

After breakfast at the campsite, you will depart for a half-day game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the wonders of the world, and you will learn more about it during your visit. With a packed lunch, descend the crater for game viewing. A 4x4 vehicle will take you 2,000 feet down to the crater floor, exploring and observing animals from a unique perspective until you return to the crater rim. The crater features a stunning landscape of woodlands, highland savannah, forests, and a high concentration of wildlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the crater rim, then ascend to the main gate and drive back to Arusha, where you will be transferred to a hotel. The hotel is booked on a bed-and-breakfast basis, with dinner on your own. You may choose to fly to Zanzibar from Kilimanjaro Airport around 8:00 pm. A free transfer back to Nairobi is available the following morning, or you can extend your stay in Arusha on your own.
