5-Day Mt Meru Hike

Pick-up from the Airport

On this day, you will be picked up from either Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport and transferred to Arusha Farm House. Once you've arrived and settled in, your guide will meet you shortly after to provide a detailed briefing about the upcoming hike what to expect each day and a gear check to ensure you have everything necessary for the journey.

Arusha to Ngongongare gate, then Trek to Miriakamba Huts

You will be picked up from your accommodation and transferred to Ngongongare, the main gate of Arusha National Park. After completing the necessary paperwork, your adventure begins with a walking safari escorted by a park ranger. You’ll hike through the park to Momella Gate, where the trek officially starts as you make your way to Miriakamba Huts.

Trek to Saddle Hut

After breakfast, the trail steepens as you gain altitude, and you’ll notice a significant change in both vegetation and weather. At this stage, you’ll be treated to stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s peak on the eastern horizon. The path leads you to Saddle Hut, located near the summit, where you will spend the night.

Summit attempt, Later descend back to the Hut

Today is your summit day, dedicated to reaching the peak of Mount Meru. The trail climbs steeply along a ridge, requiring a slow and steady pace to reach the top. Once at the summit, enjoy breathtaking views as the sun rises, capture memorable photos, and celebrate your achievement. Afterwards, you will begin the descent back down to Miriakamba Huts, where you will spend the night.

Descend to the main gate and drive back to Arusha/Moshi

On your final day on Mount Meru, you’ll take a shorter, faster descent through open grasslands and mixed forest, with a chance to spot some wildlife along the way. You should arrive at Momella Gate by late morning. Climbers who reach the summit will be awarded a certificate to commemorate their achievement. From the gate, our drivers will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi.
