Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your Lion King Safari guide will collect you from your accommodation after breakfast. You will then drive to Tarangire National Park. This transit drive is approximately two and a half hours on good tarmac roads. The Park is named after the Tarangire River which runs through it. This ‘river of warthogs’ is the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. The Park is well known for its elephant families, which can often be seen congregating by the river. You may also see giraffe, bushbuck, and hartebeest. These animals are closely followed by a range of predators, including lions and leopards. There are more breeding species of birds found in Tarangire than anywhere else on the planet! The huge and ancient Baobab trees can be seen here. Some of them are said to have lived for more than a thousand years.
Lunch will be at a picnic site inside the Park. After your game drive, you will transit to your accommodation in Karatu.

The Serengeti’s climate and vegetation have remained largely untouched for millions of years, creating a pristine and timeless ecosystem. The park boasts abundant wildlife, offering remarkable opportunities to witness animals roaming freely across the plains.

In addition to the iconic landscapes, you have a good chance of encountering predators such as lion, cheetah, and leopard. Experiencing these magnificent animals in their natural habitat is truly life-changing.

After breakfast, you will drive to Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in Africa. Formed when a massive volcano erupted and collapsed millions of years ago, the Crater is now a vast, enclosed ecosystem filled with exceptional wildlife diversity. As you arrive at the rim, you will be greeted by stunning views of the Crater floor—an untouched world of open savannah, acacia woodlands, shimmering lakes, and swamps.

Descending into the Crater, you may encounter large populations of wildlife, including wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, elephants, and an impressive variety of bird species. The Crater is also one of the best places in Africa to see predators such as lion, hyena, and occasionally leopard. It is also among the few places where you may spot the endangered black rhino.

After your game drive, you will say farewell to your guide, who will drop you off at a location of your choice—such as Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport.
