Day 1

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport and a scenic drive of approximately 6 hours to the Southern Serengeti (Ndutu). The route takes you through Makuyuni, Karatu, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment and the Ngorongoro Highlands along the way.
Upon reaching Ndutu, you will embark immediately on an afternoon game drive, exploring the vast plains where you may encounter wildebeest, zebras, predators, and other wildlife. After the game drive, you will drive to Kontiki Ndutu Camp in the evening to check in, enjoy dinner under the stars, and rest for the night.

Southern Serengeti National Park Spot Calving Season and Big Cats

After an early breakfast at Kontiki Ndutu Camp, you will head out for a full-day game drive in the Ndutu area. You will drive through the plains and seasonal wetlands, exploring wildlife hotspots for 6–7 hours of game viewing, with stops for photography, short rest breaks, and a packed lunch in the bush.

During the day, you may see large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, as well as predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. If visiting during the calving season, you may also witness newborn calves and flamingos near shallow lakes. In the late afternoon, you'll drive back to Kontiki Ndutu Camp (~30–45 minutes from the farthest viewing areas) to relax, enjoy dinner, and reflect on an exciting day of wildlife encounters.

After an early breakfast in Southern Serengeti or Ndutu, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. The trip takes about 1.5–2 hours. Once at the gate, you will begin your game drive on the crater floor, where you can spot lions, elephants, zebras, buffalos, hyenas, and hippos in a stunning natural setting.

You will enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the crater’s designated viewpoints. Later in the afternoon, you will ascend the crater walls and begin the return journey. The road passes through the beautiful Ngorongoro Highlands and the Karatu region.

After leaving the conservation area, your driver will continue toward Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport. The drive from the crater exit usually takes 4–6 hours, depending on road and traffic conditions. This marks the end of your Ngorongoro day trip after a rewarding wildlife experience.
