Your adventure begins with a hotel pickup from Arusha or Moshi, followed by a scenic drive to Londorossi Gate (2,100m) for registration. From here, the trail winds through dense rainforest filled with monkeys, colorful birds, and giant ferns. After about 3–4 hours of trekking, you arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,780m), where you set up camp and enjoy your first night under the stars.

Day 2

Leaving the rainforest, you trek steadily into moorland, crossing rolling hills and volcanic landscapes. The trail gradually ascends across the vast Shira Plateau, offering panoramic views of Kibo Peak and alpine scenery dotted with lobelias and groundsel plants. After 5–6 hours of hiking, you reach Shira 2 Camp (3,850m), an excellent spot for acclimatization and rest.

Day 3
Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

The trail climbs steadily to Lava Tower (4,600m) for lunch and acclimatization. From here, you descend into the lush Barranco Valley, a dramatic area of giant plants and scenic ridges. The descent helps your body adjust to altitude while offering stunning views. You arrive at Barranco Camp (3,950m) after 6–7 hours of trekking, ready for the Barranco Wall scramble the next day.

Day 4
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

The day starts with the thrilling Barranco Wall climb, a non-technical but adventurous ascent offering incredible valley views. The trail then continues across ridges and valleys, allowing trekkers to enjoy the rugged alpine desert scenery. After 4–5 hours of hiking, you reach Karanga Camp (4,050m), a vital acclimatization point before the push to Barafu Camp.

Day 5

Leaving Karanga, you trek steadily upward through high-altitude alpine terrain with dramatic views of Kibo Peak looming ahead. After 3–4 hours, you arrive at Barafu Camp (4,680m), the base for the midnight summit attempt. The afternoon is spent resting, hydrating, and preparing mentally for the challenging ascent ahead.

Day 6
Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

The summit climb begins around midnight under a star-filled sky, ascending steep slopes to Stella Point (5,739m), then continuing along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), Africa’s highest point. After celebrating the sunrise, you descend back to Barafu Camp for rest and refreshments, then continue to Mweka Camp (3,100m) for the night, completing 11–14 hours of trekking.

Day 7

On the final day, you descend through dense rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640m), where you receive your summit certificate. From here, a driver transfers you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. The descent takes 3–4 hours and offers a last chance to enjoy Kilimanjaro’s lush scenery and reflect on your incredible journey.
