1-Day Visit to Mto Wa Mbu

The Mto wa Mbu day trip starts with a 2-3 hour drive from Arusha, offering scenic views of the Great Rift Valley. Upon arrival, a local guide will lead you on a cultural tour via tuk-tuk or walking safari.

The tour begins at the vibrant local market, where you'll explore a variety of fresh produce and crafts. Next, you'll visit a banana plantation, famous for over 30 varieties of bananas. Your guide will explain the intricate irrigation system and the process of making traditional banana beer. You'll be offered a taste of the locally brewed banana beer, known as mbege, a staple for the Chagga tribe.

Lunch is a highlight, with an authentic Tanzanian buffet at a local home. Afterward, you'll visit a Maasai homestead. You will be welcomed with a traditional dancing and singing ceremony and learn about the Maasai's customs, social structure, and way of life.

The day concludes with an opportunity for souvenir shopping before the drive back to Arusha.
