After an early breakfast, head to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing about chimpanzee tracking rules. You will then be assigned to a small group, each led by an experienced ranger guide. The trek usually takes between 2 to 4 hours, depending on the chimpanzee movements. Once the chimps are located, you will have a magical hour observing them closely watching their interactions, feeding habits, and playful behavior. Along the way, look out for other primates, forest birds, butterflies, and unique plants.
In the afternoon, after lunch and some rest, proceed to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk. This community-managed swamp is a haven for birdwatchers, with species such as the Great Blue Turaco being a highlight. You may also encounter several monkey species and learn about local traditions tied to this conservation project. Return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.
