You'll fly from Addis Ababa early in the morning to Semera, the capital of the Afar region. Then, you'll drive to Dallol, one of the hottest and lowest points on Earth, to explore the colorful and otherworldly landscapes of Dallol, including the salt flats, sulfur springs, geysers, and caravan camels. Late afternoon, you'll enjoy the sunset from Salt Lake and spend the night there.

Day 2
Dallol to Erta Ale Volcano
Dallol to Erta Ale Volcano
After breakfast, you'll drive back to Erta Ale, a continuously active volcano known for its lava lake. You will arrive at the foot of the volcanic mountain, then take a break for dinner. After that, you'll start trekking to the summit of Erta Ale and spend the night camping near the volcano, watching the mesmerizing display of molten lava.

Day 3

You'll wake up early to watch the sunrise over Erta Ale before trekking back down to the base. After breakfast, you'll drive to Afdera, a salt mining town located near the shores of Lake Afdera, to see the salt mines and witness the traditional salt extraction methods used by the Afar people. In the afternoon, you'll drive back to Semera airport for the Addis departure.

Day 4

You'll take a domestic flight to Jinka, the gateway to the Omo Valley. Upon arrival, you'll visit the Ari Village, one of the most hospitable and culturally rich communities in the region. You'll discover traditional crafts such as pottery making, goldsmithing, and local food preparation, including how to make Ethiopia’s staple dish, injera. The lush natural surroundings of the Ari people provide a scenic introduction to tribal Ethiopia. Your overnight stay will be in Jinka.

Day 5
Jinka – Benna – Omorate – Turmi
Jinka – Benna – Omorate – Turmi
You'll begin your journey deep into the Omo Valley by visiting the Benna and Mursi tribes. If lucky, you'll witness vibrant tribal markets in Key Afer en route. After lunch in Turmi, you will continue south to Omorate and cross the Omo River by traditional canoe to meet the Dassanech tribe, known for their body art and unique lifestyle. You'll return to Turmi for the night.

Day 6

You'll drive west through breathtaking landscapes to visit the Karo tribe, famed for their elaborate body painting and scenic villages overlooking the Omo River. After lunch in Turmi, you will visit the Hamer village in the late afternoon to experience traditional life, herding practices, and possibly the famous bull-jumping ceremony if available. Your overnight stay will be in Turmi.

Day 7
Turmi – Konso – Arba Minch

Early in the morning, you'll travel to the Konso Highlands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll explore the Konso Cultural Village, famous for its intricate stone terraces, wooden statues (wagas), and vibrant traditions. You'll visit the nearby “New York” Gorge, a dramatic erosion landscape, then drive to Arba Minch for the night.

Day 8

In the morning, you will embark on a boat trip on Lake Chamo, where you’ll encounter large crocodiles, hippos, and diverse aquatic birds. In the afternoon, you'll visit the Dorze village perched at 2400 meters, where you'll explore their famous beehive-shaped huts, weaving traditions, and panoramic view. You'll spend the night in Arba Minch.

Day 9

In the morning, you will explore Nech Sar National Park, home to Forty Springs wildlife, and scenic walking trails through lush jungle. After lunch, you'll transfer airport and departure to Addis Ababa. Depending on your time, you'll join a welfare program in the evening at a traditional restaurant and enjoy the traditional food and music, and finally, you'll transfer to Bole airport for your international flight.
