Arusha to Ndutu via Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Arusha, heading westward through the scenic highlands towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you'll enjoy a drive through lush farmlands and Maasai villages before entering the conservation area, where wildlife begins to appear. Descending onto the Ndutu Plains in the southern Serengeti ecosystem, you'll embark on your first game drive en route to your lodge or camp. Depending on the season, you may already spot large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and predators like lions and cheetahs roaming freely across the plains.

Game drive in Ndutu Area

Today is dedicated to exploring the rich wildlife haven of the Ndutu region. You'll spend the full day on game drives across varied landscapes—open plains, acacia woodlands, and alkaline lakes like Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek. This area is particularly famous from December to March when the Great Migration arrives, and thousands of wildebeest give birth, attracting numerous predators. Your guide will help track key wildlife sightings including elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and possibly elusive leopards. A picnic lunch in the bush allows you to stay out in the wild without missing a moment of the action.

Morning Game Drive & Return to Arusha/Kilimanjaro Airport

After an early breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in the Ndutu area, taking advantage of the cooler hours when animals are most active. This is a great opportunity for last-minute wildlife sightings or photographing the sunrise over the plains. Around mid-morning, begin your drive back toward Arusha, passing once more through the Ngorongoro highlands. You’ll arrive in Arusha by late afternoon, marking the end of your unforgettable 3-day safari adventure.
