Day 1

Your trek begins with a morning transfer from Arusha to Arusha National Park, where you will complete registration at Momella Gate (1,500 m). With an armed ranger escort, you will hike through montane forest rich in wildlife, including monkeys, giraffes, and buffalo. The trail gradually ascends to Miriakamba Hut (2,500 m), where you will have dinner and spend the night surrounded by mountain scenery.

Day 2
Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut
Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut
After breakfast, you will continue your ascent through lush forests and moorlands, enjoying views of Mount Meru’s dramatic crater walls and the Ash Cone. The hike is shorter but steeper today, bringing you to Saddle Hut (3,500 m), nestled below Little Meru. In the afternoon, you may take an optional acclimatization hike to the summit of Little Meru (3,820 m) for panoramic views before returning to the hut for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 3
Saddle Hut – Summit – Momella Gate
Saddle Hut – Summit – Momella Gate
You will wake up in the early hours (around midnight) for your final ascent to Socialist Peak (4,566 m). The challenging trail follows a narrow ridge with thrilling drops on either side, rewarding you at sunrise with breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscapes. After celebrating at the summit, you will descend back to Saddle Hut for breakfast, then continue down to Miriakamba Hut for a short rest before returning to Momella Gate. From here, your driver will transfer you back to Arusha, where your Mount Meru trekking adventure concludes.
