Day 1

Arusha to Serengeti National Park

Arusha to Serengeti National Park

Your adventure begins early with a pick-up from your hotel in Arusha. You will meet your professional safari guide and embark on your journey in a custom-built 4x4 Land Cruiser. You'll drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with the scenery shifting from city to countryside, and then into lush, cultivated highlands. You will stop at the entrance gate for formalities before beginning the ascent up the winding road of the Ngorongoro Highlands.
You will descend the other side of the highlands and enter the Serengeti National Park at the Naabi Hill Gate.
Your first real game drive begins as you venture deeper into the Serengeti. The vast, golden grasslands stretch to the horizon, dotted with iconic acacia trees and wildlife. You are likely to see herds of zebra, wildebeest, Thomson's and Grant's gazelles, towering giraffes, and perhaps your first predators like lions lazing under a tree or cheetahs scanning the distance.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservations Area

After an early breakfast, you embark on a morning game drive. This is often the best time for wildlife viewing, as animals are most active in the cooler hours. Your guide will take you to prime locations based on recent sightings. The Seronera River Valley is a particularly rich area, attracting wildlife year-round. This is your best chance to see the Big Cats: lions, leopards (often spotted resting in the sausage trees), and cheetahs. You'll also look for elephants, buffalo, and a plethora of bird species.
You will enjoy a final picnic lunch at a scenic spot within the Serengeti, savoring your last moments in this iconic park.
You begin your journey back towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This drive is another game viewing opportunity, often revealing animals you might have missed on the way in. You will exit the Serengeti and climb back into the highlands, enjoying the dramatic change in climate and scenery from dry plains to green, misty hills.

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

An early start is essential today. After breakfast, you drive up the steep road to the Ngorongoro Crater rim. The concentration of game here is unparalleled. Your mission this morning is to find the rare black rhinoceros, which can often be spotted in the distance. You are also virtually guaranteed to see large pride of lions, massive bull elephants, hyenas, flocks of flamingos on the soda lake, and thousands of wildebeest and zebra.
You will stop at a designated picnic site near the hippo pool to enjoy your lunchbox surrounded by the incredible scenery and wildlife.
After lunch, you begin your ascent out of the crater. You'll have a final stop at the crater rim viewpoint for photos before beginning the journey back to Arusha.
The drive back to Arusha takes approximately 3-4 hours. You will be dropped off at your preferred hotel in Arusha or at Arusha Airport (ARK) or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in time for your onward travel, filled with memories of a lifetime.
