Your safari adventure begins the moment you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK). You will be warmly greeted by our representative from Herbivore African Expeditions safari company who will assist you and transfer you to your hotel.
The Experience: The Green Mountain Hotel is a peaceful little Mountain located just outside the hustle of Arusha city. You can take a leisurely stroll around the hotel's lush gardens, enjoy the view of the Mount Meru, and perhaps spot some small monkeys and prolific birdlife. This evening, you will likely have a briefing with your safari guide who will outline the exciting days ahead, answer any questions, and confirm the plan for an early start tomorrow.

Day 2
Arusha National Park to Tarangire

After an early breakfast, you'll embark on your first game drive, heading into the underrated gem of Arusha National Park. Despite being one of the smaller parks, its beauty is unparalleled, featuring the rugged Mount Meru, the tranquil Momella Lakes, and the lush Ngurdoto Crater.
The Experience: Your game drive here is often a walking safari or a canoe safari (optional extra cost) on the Momella Lakes, offering a unique, up-close perspective. While large predators are rare, you'll see herds of buffalo, giraffes, zebras, warthogs, and a variety of antelope like the beautiful black-and-white colobus monkey in the forest canopy. The birdlife is also exceptional. After a picnic lunch, you'll begin the drive south-west to Tarangire National Park. You'll arrive in the late afternoon, with time for a short introductory game drive as you head to your lodge.

Day 3
Tarangire National Park to Karatu

Today is dedicated to exploring the wild wonders of Tarangire National Park, famous for its massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees that dot the landscape like sentinels.
After an early breakfast, you'll dive into a full day of game viewing. The Tarangire River is the lifeblood of the park during the dry season, attracting incredible concentrations of animals. You can expect to see hundreds of elephants, often in family groups, along with lions, leopards, cheetahs, and vast herds of wildebeest and zebra. Keep an eye out for the tree-climbing pythons and the elusive kudu. You'll enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot within the park. In the late afternoon, you'll begin the scenic drive out of the park and up into the highlands, arriving in the agricultural town of Karatu.

Day 4

Your journey begins with a drive up the winding road to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area rim. You'll stop at the viewpoint for your first breathtaking look into the Ngorongoro Crater (you'll explore it later). You then descend the other side and enter the Serengeti via the Naabi Hill Gate. The landscape transforms into vast, open grasslands that stretch to the horizon. The game driving starts immediately as you make your way to your central Serengeti camp. The Serengeti is the stage for the Great Migration (location varies by season, but your guide will know where to find them), but it also boasts incredible resident wildlife, including large prides of lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas.

Day 5

You have one last chance to enjoy the magic of the Serengeti with an early morning game drive, the best time to see predators active.
After a sunrise breakfast, you'll head out for a final game drive across the plains. This is prime hunting time, so the action can be spectacular. You might spot a leopard resting in a tree or a cheetah scanning the horizon for prey. You'll then begin your journey back towards the Ngorongoro Highlands, enjoying a packed lunch on the way. You will exit the Serengeti and ascend the crater rim. The change in climate and scenery is dramatic, from the dry plains to the cool, misty, and forested highlands. You'll continue to your lodge in Karatu.

Day 6
Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
The grand finale of your safari is a descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wonder and the world's largest intact volcanic caldera.
You'll start very early, descending the steep crater wall in the morning mist. The crater floor is a self-contained ecosystem teeming with an estimated 25,000 large animals. It's one of the best places in Africa to see the critically endangered black rhinoceros, as well as majestic male lions, giant tusked elephants, and large herds of zebra and wildebeest. The hippo pool and Lake Magadi, often blanketed with flamingos, are stunning highlights. You will enjoy your picnic lunch at a designated site next to the hippo pool, a truly unique experience. After several hours of spectacular game viewing, you will ascend the crater rim in the early afternoon and begin the journey back to Arusha. You will be dropped off at your preferred location in Arusha or directly at the airport for your departure, filled with incredible memories.
