Day 1

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Marangu Gate for registration. The trek begins in the rainforest, where you may spot black-and-white colobus monkeys. A gradual hike leads you to Mandara Hut for your first overnight stay.

Day 2

You’ll hike through open moorland with scenic views of both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The terrain gradually opens up, and the vegetation thins out as you approach Horombo Hut, where you’ll rest overnight.

Day 3

Today is reserved for acclimatization. You can take a short hike towards Mawenzi Ridge, which offers spectacular views and helps your body adjust to the altitude. After lunch, return to Horombo Hut for another night.

Day 4

The trek continues across the alpine desert, with stunning views of Kibo Peak ahead. You’ll pass the “Last Water Point” before arriving at Kibo Hut. An early dinner and rest before your summit attempt.

Day 5

Around midnight, begin your final ascent with headlamps lighting the way. The steep climb takes you to Gilman’s Point (5,681m), then across the crater rim to Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa. After photos and celebrations, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue to Horombo Hut for overnight.

Day 6

A long but rewarding descent takes you through moorland and lush rainforest back to Marangu Gate. Successful climbers receive a summit certificate before the transfer back to Moshi or Arusha.

• Accommodation: Hotel in Moshi/Arusha (not included, but can be arranged).
