Day 1

After a transfer to Rongai Gate, complete registration and begin trekking through farmland and pine forests. The path gradually climbs until you reach Simba Camp near the First Cave for your first overnight.

Day 2

Today’s hike takes you across moorland terrain with expansive views. You’ll pass Second Cave and continue upward toward Kikelewa Camp, surrounded by giant groundsels and lobelias.

Day 3
Kikelewa Camp (3600m) – Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4330m)

A short but steep climb leads to Mawenzi Tarn, located beneath the jagged peaks of Mawenzi. This is one of the most scenic campsites on the mountain. Afternoon is free for rest and acclimatization.

• Habitat: Moorland & alpine desert
• Accommodation: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (Tented).

Day 4

You’ll trek across the lunar-like alpine desert, crossing the “Saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Arrive at Kibo Hut at the base of the summit climb. Rest and prepare for the summit attempt.

• Accommodation: Kibo Hut (Dormitory-style).

Day 5
Kibo Hut (4700m) – Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Horombo Hut (3720m)

Around midnight, begin the final ascent to Gillman’s Point (5,681m), then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak. After enjoying the sunrise from the Roof of Africa, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short break, then continue to Horombo Hut.
• Hiking distance: ~16 km / 10–14 hours
• Habitat: Arctic zone, alpine desert, moorland
• Accommodation: Horombo Hut (Dormitory-style).

Day 6
Horombo Hut (3720m) – Marangu Gate (1843m) – Moshi/Arusha
Horombo Hut (3720m) – Marangu Gate (1843m) – Moshi/Arusha
Descend through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate, where successful climbers receive summit certificates. From here, you’ll be transferred back to Moshi or Arusha.

• Habitat: Moorland & rainforest
• Accommodation: Hotel in Moshi/Arusha (not included, but can be arranged).
