Day 1

Zanzibar to Tarangire National Park (Fly-In Safari)

Zanzibar to Tarangire National Park (Fly-In Safari)

Your safari adventure begins today! Our driver will pick you up from your hotel in Zanzibar (Stone Town, Nungwi, Paje, Jambiani, etc.) and transfer you to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) for your short flight (≈1 hr) to Arusha Airport (ARK). On arrival, your professional guide meets you for a 2–2.5 hour drive to Tarangire National Park.

Enter Tarangire for your first game drive. Famous for its massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees, Tarangire’s river, seasonal swamps and open savannah draw wildlife year-round. Keep an eye out for giraffe, zebra, impala, wildebeest, buffalo, and—if luck allows—lions and leopards.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot (or hot lunch at a lodge, depending on your plan), then continue game viewing through the golden afternoon.

In the early evening, drive to your selected accommodation inside Tarangire or in the Karatu area for dinner and overnight—perfect positioning for tomorrow’s journey to the Serengeti.

Main Destination:
Tarangire National Park
Best Time To Visit July to November (Animals come to the Tarangire River)
High Season June to October (The park is full of visitors)
Best Weather June to October (Little rainfall)

Day 2

Tarangire/Karatu-Ngorongoro Highlands-Serengeti National Park

Tarangire/Karatu-Ngorongoro Highlands-Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, depart via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, crossing the scenic Malanja Depression toward Serengeti National Park. You’ll make a short stop at Naabi Hill Gate—stretch your legs with a quick walk among the Naabi Hill kopjes while your guide handles park formalities. Enjoy an early picnic lunch at the gate (or en route), then continue into the Serengeti for a full afternoon of game drives.

The Serengeti—named from the Maasai word “Siringet,” meaning “endless plains”—unfolds in vast golden savannah dotted with granite outcrops and acacia woodlands. This area is big-cat country: keep watch for lions, cheetahs, and leopards, alongside vast herds of zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, giraffe, and abundant birdlife. Routing focuses on Central Serengeti (Seronera) for year-round wildlife, or shifts seasonally to follow the Great Migration (Dec–Mar Ndutu/Naabi; May–Jun Western Corridor; Jul–Oct North/Kogatende).

Main Destination:
Serengeti National Park
Best Time To Visit January to February and June to October (Different areas are best at different times)
High Season July to March (The Seronera area is crowded)
Best Weather June to October (Little to no rainfall)

Serengeti (AM)-Ngorongoro Rim (PM)

Serengeti (AM)-Ngorongoro Rim (PM)

Rise early for a sunrise game drive in Central Serengeti (Seronera)—prime time for big cats on the move. Visit the hippo pools and, if you wish, the Seronera Visitor Centre for short walking trails and exhibits. Return for a hearty bush breakfast (or take a packed breakfast to maximise wildlife time), then continue game drives as you backtrack toward Naabi Hill Gate.

After a picnic lunch, exit the park at Naabi and cross back into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy a scenic drive along the highlands to the crater rim, arriving by late afternoon/early evening—perfect positioning for tomorrow’s early descent.

Overnight (mid-range): Ang’ata Ngorongoro Camp or Rhino Lodge (both on/near the rim).
Camping option: Simba Public Campsite on the rim (shared facilities).

Day 4

Ngorongoro Crater Tour - Zanzibar (Fly-Out) or Arusha Overnight

Ngorongoro Crater Tour - Zanzibar (Fly-Out) or Arusha Overnight

After an early breakfast, descend ~600 m into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. Sustained by permanent water and rich grasses, the crater hosts large herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and elephants, plus an unusually high density of predators—lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the occasionally sighted leopard. With luck, you may also spot the black rhino, for which the crater is renowned.

Stop at a designated picnic site near the hippo pools/Lake Magadi, the shallow alkaline lake in the southwest corner, often fringed with flamingos and bustling with other waterbirds.

By early afternoon, ascend the rim and drive back to Arusha. Depending on your schedule, choose one of the following:

Same-day flight to Zanzibar from Arusha (ARK) or Kilimanjaro (JRO) with hotel drop-off on arrival in Stone Town, Nungwi, Paje, Jambiani, Matemwe, or Kiwengwa.

Main Destination:
Ngorongoro Crater
Best Time To Visit June to October (Wildlife viewing is best)
High Season Most of the year – July to March (Expect crowds)
Best Weather June to October (Rainfall is little to none)
