1-Day Gorilla Trekking from Lake Bunyonyi

Depart Lake Bunyonyi at 5:00 AM from your hotel at Lake Bunyonyi after an early breakfast and begin a scenic 2–3 hour drive to either Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Arrive at the park headquarters by 7:30 AM for registration and a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You’ll be assigned to a gorilla family group and guided into the forest by experienced trackers. The trek starts around 8:30 AM and can take between 1 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you find them, spend one unforgettable hour observing these majestic primates in their natural habitat. After the trek, enjoy your packed lunch either at a resting point in the forest or back at the park offices. Around 2:00 PM, begin your return journey to Lake Bunyonyi, arriving by late afternoon or early evening. If time allows, relax by the lakeside or enjoy a peaceful canoe ride at sunset, reflecting on a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.
