Madikwe Game Reserve lies on the border with Botswana in North West province, about 300km/186mi northwest of Johannesburg. Most visitors will fly into South Africa at O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. From here, the easiest way to get to Madikwe is a 1-hour Federal Airlines shuttle flight to one of two official airstrips inside the park. It is also possible to arrange a road transfer from Johannesburg, or to rent a car and , which takes 4 to 5 hours*.
Note that while it is permitted to self-drive to your lodge or camp, you will need to park your car there for the duration of your stay, as all in Madikwe are guided.

Domestic Flights
Shuttle flights between Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) and Madikwe are operated by Federal Airlines. In most cases, your tour operator will book the flight as part of your tour package.
