Marojejy National Park is a top birding destination. It has more than 110 bird species on its records and about 75 of those are forest birds unique to Madagascar. Arguably Madagascar’s most exciting bird, the localized helmet vanga is quite easy to see when it is nesting from September to December. If birding is your interest, go with a specialized birding guide. Aside from being good at spotting birds, they often know the location of nests.

Best Time for Bird Watching
Bird watching in Marojejy is good throughout the year, but the best time is from September to December (although December can be very wet). During these months, birds are most vocal and therefore easier to spot. Marojejy is one of the best places to see the helmet vanga and guides can often lead you to their nests at this time. Migratory birds are present from November to April.
