Semi- arid but we sighted a leopard and three rhinos apart from flamingos (not many), zebras and other animals.

We went out on the lake. It was beautiful, with many birds and nice to be on the water. It was more civilized where we were where even a local wedding was going on while we were there. It was a perfect contrast to the Masai Mara safari.

Lake Nakuru National Park is set in the heart of the Rift Valley. The park is relatively small at approximately 250 square kilometres, but it should never be overlooked! Its accessibility and close proximity to Nairobi makes it an easy day trip from the capital or ideal for a couple of nights on safari.

Lake Nakuru is beautiful. I visited during March when there isn't as much wildlife as other times of the year, but there was still plenty of game viewing such as rhino's, lions, buffalos, baboons, pink flamingos, different types of antelopes, etc. The park is smaller than the other reserves I visited, but there were a lot more trees which gave it a more "woodsy" feel than the other reserves I visited which were more open plains.

Lake Nakuru was much better than I had expected to be. I knew it was justly famous for it's birdlife but hadn't realised there were so many other animals there. I have given only 2 stars for 'Bush vibe' because it did feel a little like we were in a commercial safari park like the ones in the UK.

The wildlife viewing was great! However, the large number of tourists that visit Lake Nakuru has attracted other primates who might want to steal your lunch. Be very careful with your belongings!

Soda lakes are interesting. Flamingoes and Pelicans were amazing. Drove from Nairobi as a day trip once. Stayed once at just ok hotel which name I can't remember. Walking safari felt as though we were walking in a zoo without fences.

Beautiful lake with a spectacular flamingo scenery and many other animals (no elephants), but often very crowded!
