Four Days That Felt Like a Lifetime in the Wild with Oldbeast Vacations
We chose a 4-day private luxury safari with Oldbeast Vacations because we had limited time, but somehow those four days felt full in a way we didn’t expect. From the start, Mwanne made everything easy. He explained things clearly, answered every small question, and gave us the feeling that we were genuinely cared for, not just booked into a program.
Our guide, James, was incredible in a quiet, confident way. On our first drive we saw elephants moving slowly between baobab trees, calves tucked safely between the adults. Later that same day, we came across giraffes feeding calmly while zebras and wildebeest shared the plains around them. Nothing felt forced. James would stop the car, turn off the engine, and just let the moment happen.
Each day brought something different. One morning we watched a group of lions finishing their meal, bellies full, completely relaxed. Another time, a leopard appeared out of nowhere, walking gracefully through the grass before disappearing into the trees. We saw buffalo in huge numbers, hippos packed tightly in the water, warthogs running with their tails straight up, and playful baboons climbing over rocks near the road.

We began in Tarangire, where elephants slowly crossed the rivers after an early morning rain, and giraffes grazed gracefully nearby. In the Serengeti, we saw lions resting on kopjes, a leopard climbing a tree with her cub, and cheetahs chasing across the golden grass. John had a natural sense of timing, pausing just long enough for us to fully absorb each magical sighting.
One morning, we joined the Hadzabe tribe, learning their tracking skills and sharing stories around the fire. Watching their connection to the land, and even trying some of their techniques ourselves, made us feel part of something much bigger than ourselves.

Our 5-day flying safari with Oldbeast Vacations turned into something far deeper than we expected. It wasn’t just a trip, it felt like a journey that slowly unfolded and stayed with us.
From the moment we boarded the small plane and watched Tanzania open up beneath us, everything felt different. Mwanne handled the organization so smoothly that we never felt stressed or uncertain. Landing straight into the Serengeti was unforgettable. One minute you’re above the clouds, the next you’re surrounded by endless plains and wildlife moving freely. It felt like stepping into another world.
This was a private safari, and that made the experience intimate and unhurried. Our guide, Tembo, was exceptional. Calm, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the land, he guided us with a quiet confidence that made us feel safe and relaxed. He never rushed us, never forced moments. Some of the most powerful experiences came from silence, just sitting and watching life unfold in front of us.
The Serengeti gave us time. Time to watch big groups of animals moving together, time to wait near rivers, time to simply observe. Then came Ngorongoro Crater, which felt completely unreal. The accommodations throughout the trip were comfortable, peaceful, and well chosen. Evenings were calm, filled with good food, soft light, and quiet conversations about the day. Falling asleep to the sounds of nature and waking up to fresh air felt deeply grounding.

When we booked this 10-day safari with Oldbeast Vacations, we were excited, but we didn’t expect it to affect us the way it did.
From the first day, everything felt easy. The trip was well organized with great support from Mwanne, who made sure all the details were handled smoothly before and during the safari. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine smiles, not the kind you get because it’s a job, but the kind that makes you feel you’re in good hands. We never had to worry about timing, logistics, or what came next. Everything just flowed naturally.
What stayed with us most was the time in the Serengeti. Having more days there changed everything. Instead of rushing, we learned to slow down. Some mornings we barely spoke, just watching big groups of animals move quietly across the plains. Other times we waited patiently near rivers and lakes, and suddenly something magical would happen. Seeing a leopard like that, calmly and naturally, is a moment I still replay in my head.
Each park felt different. Tarangire felt strong and wild, full of elephants and ancient trees. Lake Manyara was calm and green, with reflections on the water that made you want to stop the car and just look. And then there was Ngorongoro Crater. Going down into it early in the morning felt unreal. There was so much life everywhere that it almost felt overwhelming, in the best possible way.

At the end of each day, we returned to beautiful lodges and camps. Sitting there in the evening, tired but happy, looking out at the views, sharing stories about what we’d seen that day, those quiet moments were just as special as the game drives. The service was kind, attentive, and never forced.
What really made the difference was the Oldbeast Vacations team as a whole. They truly care.
