Great customer service and reasonably priced safari!
5/5

I booked a 13-day safari with Colours of Africa very last minute (a mere 7 days ahead) and was very pleasantly surprised by how easy it was. Grace was our point of contact and after providing the initial quote, worked with me to customize the itinerary to add two other parks I wanted to see. I requested the quote 9 days ahead of when I wanted to start and had my custom itinerary booked within 36 hours of my initial quote request. I requested quotes from companies that had good reviews on safaribookings.com and went with Colours of Africa because they were the first company to get back to me and I was in a rush. Fortunately for me, they were also reasonably priced. I gave them my ideal budget per day and they customized my itinerary accordingly. Grace was super responsive before, during, and after our trip, and was especially helpful when filling out our Kenyan e-visa application. I was a bit panicked it wouldn’t be approved in time because I booked a flight from the US to Nairobi only a week ahead of our safari but she assured me I’d be able to get my visa in time (it was approved less than 24 hours after I submitted the application).

Most of our accommodations were nicer than I was expecting given the budget we had and how last minute we booked the trip. I was also very impressed by the quality of the food at our accommodations – normally the mass-produced food at buffets in tourist lodging isn’t very good, but the Indian and local curries and other dishes were delicious.

In Kenya, we went to Samburu, Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Hell's Gate, and Amboseli. In Tanzania, we went to Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti. They were all beautiful and worth going to, but my favorites were Samburu, Naivasha (this was quite different from the other parks and was nice to have a change), Amboseli (also quite different with the wetlands), and Ngorongoro. Seeing the Ngorongoro crater was amazinggggg. And Masai Mara and/or Serengeti have the stereotypical savannah views you imagine you’ll see when you’re on a safari. I’d say it’s not necessary to do both Serengeti and Masai Mara because it’s the same geographical area, just with two different names b/c they’re in different countries. Doing both felt a little repetitive (my fault, I was the one who requested to add Masai Mara to our itinerary).

I think a 13-day safari was a little too long and would have been happy with 10 days – you get tired of sitting in the car all day. But even just a 2-day safari is worth it if that’s all you have time for! I maybe would have swapped Serengeti for somewhere were you’re more likely to see rhinos – We saw one from very far away in Ngorongoro but that’s it. Otherwise, we saw plenty of everything else! We had great guides and especially loved Jonson in Kenya and Juma in Tanzania, they were excellent at spotting animals and getting us close and giving us the time we wanted to take photos and observe the animals.

If I went back to Kenya and Tanzania I’d definitely reach out to Colours of Africa again to help me plan my trip!

Amazing experience
5/5

It was a wonderful experience, and I saw many adorable animals—truly an unforgettable adventure. The professional guide and informative commentary played a crucial role in making this experience perfect. The ride was also very smooth, with no motion sickness at all, which made me feel safe and comfortable throughout.

Professional and Safe!
5/5

This Tanzanian tour company is truly professional — they respond quickly and offer very reasonable prices. Their guides are highly experienced and well-qualified, and they strictly follow government regulations, which made us feel very safe and well taken care of. We were able to enjoy the entire trip with total peace of mind. They even have guides who speak a bit of Chinese, which made communication even smoother for us.

The Best Safari Experience - Authentic, Professional, and Truly Caring
5/5

I cannot recommend Colours of Africa enough - their services were impeccable from start to finish! They arranged an incredible journey for us, carefully considering all our suggestions while ensuring the logistics made sense every step of the way.
The highlight was their recommendation to visit the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes - hands down the best cultural experience we've ever had. It felt completely authentic and fascinating, never staged, offering us a truly unique perspective on life.
We chose an itinerary spanning two countries - Kenya and Tanzania - which they coordinated flawlessly. Our Kenyan driver, Victor, is an amazing guide with the eye of an eagle, spotting animals from incredible distances and knowing exactly where to find the action. In Tanzania, Derek was super calm, prioritizing safety and our wellbeing above everything else. He's a fun person to travel with and did an excellent job tracking wildlife. The peak of our trip was witnessing the great migration - another fantastic suggestion from him!
Throughout everything, Hatibu was absolutely amazing! From the very beginning, he went above and beyond to craft the best offer, secure the accommodations we requested, and provide all necessary documents for our Kenya ETA. What impressed me most was his availability - he responded to every WhatsApp message within 5 minutes, 24/7, no matter the question or request. Even more touching, he actually checked in after our trip to make sure we arrived home safely! I've traveled with agencies in different countries, but no one has ever shown that level of care.
All in all, the people at Colours of Africa are exceptional, the service is outstanding and we had an incredible journey with them!
