"Incredible 5-day safari to see the Big Five and more"!
I am passionate about discovering new countries and cultures, but I never post comments about my vacations. However, I will share my experience with you on the occasion of my 45th birthday.
This safari differed from my previous trips because I was dependent on the company I chose, but above all on the guide who would make my experience unforgettable.
In my case, the adventure began with the choice of company. I sent five requests for quotes for a five-day safari.
The prices quoted were more or less similar, with equivalent services. In unfamiliar territory, it can be difficult to make a choice. It was therefore essential to establish criteria. And that's where Destiny Explorer, with Issa (the manager) as my contact, really stood out.
Throughout our email exchanges, Issa was very professional. You could clearly sense his empathy and pride in his work. He was able to reassure us without ever being pushy. His valuable advice helped us optimize our itinerary.
If you have the opportunity, I recommend choosing accommodation inside the parks. In addition to saving time, the sensory experience will be magical. Hyenas, lions, hippos... the animals are very active at night, and you will hear them.
After all these details, the big day finally arrived.
As mentioned, I had spoken at length with Issa, but never with the rest of the team.
Nicolas, our guide, welcomed us at our hotel. The adventure could finally begin!
It was five intense days, with long game drives.
Some people talk about luck, but I would say that we had an experienced guide, and in my opinion, that makes all the difference.
His knowledge of the different parks allowed us to see the Big Five and more than 50 lions. The proximity to the animals was disconcerting. We saw all the animals we wanted to see.
It was an exceptional safari, despite our walking safari being canceled due to bad weather.
I would like to highlight Nicolas's smooth driving (pole pole), which is rather reassuring when you know that there are many accidents on the roads.
On the downside, there are the guides who will inevitably overtake you or block your view when you stop to look at the animals.
Although comfortable, sleeping outside the parks wastes a lot of time and makes the experience a little less wild.
I would therefore like to thank Issa for his kindness, professionalism, time, and for sharing his passion, as well as Nicolas, our guide, who took us to the right places at the right times, not to mention my wife, with whom I shared this unforgettable vacation and had a wonderful time!
I hope my post will help you make your choice.

Our experience far exceeded our expectations due to their professionalism and customer support
Our experience with Destiny Explorers far exceeded our expections. It began with Issa's total committment to providing us the best safari possible. He was patient, understanding and dealt with all our questions and concerns immediately. Our itinerary which he customized for us went through without any problems. He even supplied our guide for another two days with no notice to take us on separate excursions not related to the safari. The accommodations that he arranged were beautiful. I give special recognition to the Serengeti camp as it truly gave us the feeling of being immersed in the wild ( we had hippos grazing beside our tent!). Issa even drove to our hotel on our last night and surprised us with a gift of two of his company shirts after I said to our guide that I liked them. I can't say enough about our guide Hussein. He is extremely knowledgeable about the animals and how to spot them. He spotted everything from the "Big Five" to a baby bird on the ground calling for its mother and a Black Mamba crossing the road ahead. Hussein showed up each morning a half hour early without exception. He was extremely helpful and truly enjoyed answering our unending questions. He also laughed easily at all our corney jokes. He made it very clear that he was there to be of service to us and he was grateful to do it. He enjoyed the experience as much as us and was thrilled to narrate the lions behaviours as they were organizing a zebra kill. Even though he hadn't seen it before, he knew exactly what was happening when a Zebra was in the process of giving birth right beside us and although we were running late, he agreed that we should just unpack our boxed lunches, turn off the truck and watch the birth unfold. Its unbelievable how he spotted leopards in trees with fresh antelope kills where we couldn't see them until we were beside them. We felt very safe and comfortable traveling with him. Some other examples of how Hussein went above and beyond what was expected include arranging a surprise cake and traditional dance to celebrate our 30th anniversary, bringing us to a mobile data provider and helped solve a tech issue with our phone, picked up some sugarcane snacks for us when we were all hungry and most importantly in the middle of the Serengeti he spotted a single plastic water bottle on the ground and drove over to pick it up. I can't recommend Destiny Explorers enough and it was worth every penny spent. Many thanks to Issa,Hussein, Julia and our intrepid Land Rover " The Beast"

An incredible safari experience, but serious organizational issues behind the scenes
I feel obligated to share this experience to ensure transparency for future travelers.
I am giving this experience 3 stars, mainly because our guide was truly excellent and because the safari experience itself is absolutely a once in a lifetime must do.
I chose Destiny Explorer in order to support a local safari operator, despite having read prior reviews mentioning concerns about vehicle condition and maintenance.
Six months after paying our deposit, Issa informed us that our first night at Africa Safari Arusha was no longer available and had to be changed. This information was incorrect. I personally contacted the hotel and confirmed that availability existed, including shortly before our arrival. Instead, we were relocated to Parrot Hotel, which was in extremely poor condition. The property was very run down, many things were broken or poorly repaired, and the air conditioning leaked directly onto our suitcase overnight. We were also the only guests at the hotel, which felt uncomfortable.
Upon arrival, a representative of the company demanded an additional 600 USD, explaining that a calculation error had been made after the deposit. While the mistake was indeed theirs, Issa refused to accept payment by credit card and offered no alternative solutions. I was told to withdraw cash from an ATM. Due to withdrawal limits, I had to make multiple transactions in local currency and exchange it to USD, resulting in additional fees and exchange losses of approximately 75 USD. This was handled in a very unprofessional manner.
The safari vehicle itself was old and poorly maintained, with over 150,000 km on the odometer and smaller windows than standard safari vehicles. Compared to other groups we encountered, our vehicle was clearly inferior, which raised concerns from the beginning.
Unfortunately, on day five, the vehicle broke down. We lost the entire afternoon of day five and all of day six. During this time, we received little to no clear information and were moved between locations by individuals we did not know. On the evening of day six, around 8:00 pm, we still did not know whether our final day at Ngorongoro would take place. This caused significant stress and uncertainty.
We had been previously assured that in the event of a breakdown, a replacement vehicle would be provided. That did not happen. Although a replacement part was eventually flown in and our guide rejoined us during the night, the situation was handled in a disorganized and amateur manner.
I later requested a partial prorated refund for the lost safari time on the afternoon of day five and the entirety of day six. To this day, I have received no response.
If you choose this operator, be aware that in the event of mechanical issues, you may be left without support or clear communication. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company.

Unforgettable experience
We did a 5 days private safari and it was amazing! Our guide Nicholas made everything better. The accommodations were super comfortable and we had the best time exploring the parks. Specially serengueti which was our absolute favourite.
Totally recommend!
