5 day Omo valley experience. Great service!

We were originally going to go to the north of the country with Essence. However one week before we were informed about the ongoing situation and we arranged last minute plans to go to Omo Valley.

They were very helpful to reaarange and flexible. We ended up having a great time and amazing experience! Our guide was awesome (Rashid). We had local community guides for each tribe and we always felt supported and we connected to local culture.

We recommend them for any Ethopia tour!

We booked the 7-day tour of northern Ethiopia with Essence Ethiopia Tours and are absolutely thrilled! The trip offers the perfect blend of impressive culture, fascinating history, and breathtaking nature. The value for money is unbeatable, considering everything that is included.

Highlights of our trip:
Bahir Dar (with tour guide Tisaby and Lake Tana with guide Eyu): The boat trip to the historic monasteries on the Zege Peninsula and the visit to the Blue Nile were a fantastic start. Our guide did a wonderful job of introducing us to Orthodox traditions and the history behind the colorful murals.

Gondar: The imperial city completely enchanted us. The palaces of Fasil Ghebbi—and especially the ceiling of the Debre Berhan Selassie Church with its famous angel faces—are absolute must-sees.

Simien Mountains (with local guide Hailemariam): The absolute highlight of the tour! The landscape, with its deep gorges, is spectacular. The three-day trek was superbly organized. Huge praise to the camping team and our local guide: the food at the camp was delicious, the tents were excellent, and the up-close encounters with Gelada baboons were unforgettable.

Organization & Service:
Everything went smoothly, from the airport pickup in Addis Ababa to the domestic flights. The logistics were perfectly planned. At every moment, we felt safe, well looked after, and warmly welcomed. Both the mid-range hotels and the camping equipment exceeded our expectations.

A huge thank you to the entire Essence Ethiopia Tours team—especially tour guide Tsehaynew—for this dream trip. Anyone wanting to experience the real Ethiopia should definitely book this tour!

We had a wonderful trip in Ethiopia and covered several regions such as a Lalibela, Addis Ababa and Dallol. Essence was instrumental in helping us design the itinerary and supported us with excellent logistics and tour support. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly.
Also, essence travels changed our itinerary at the last minute based on security concerns we had.
