Once (or perhaps more?) in a lifetime experience!
Let me begin by telling you the importance of choosing a good local tour for a trip to Safari. Continuous communications before and during the trip, tailor-made route, a helpful guide, one of a kind accommodation..you name it. Much appreciation goes to our contact Peter for curating the route to our preferences and answering my enquiries, after all it's my family's very first trip to the Safari! We are thankful for our guide Dickson who is open to our suggestions and is a very reliable driver. Not to mention being attentive in spotting lions from hundreds of yards away! All in all we recommend travelling with Apodiformes Adventures for this once in a lifetime experience!

Very professional and did everything possible to make the experience great and fulfilling
We just completed our adventure in Masai Mara , Nakuru and Amboseli.
Patrick was our guide. And if there were more than 5 stars , I would give him that.
Very professional, he knows the areas and the roads like back of his palms, connected with his counterparts in the region- hence he could show us everything possible. We saw animas ( all big fives and others) and migration .
He was able to show us leopard mom with her 4 cubs in Amboseli , which is very difficult to spot.
Extremely happy customer here. And we have a plan to go back next year. And surely will do our safari with same company and Patrick 👍🏼
Very informative and quick to respond to questions.
Amazing tour, well planned. Sammy was an amazing driver and guide, always getting us the best view to see and photo animals and very informative. We saw the big seven during our trip, experienced a balloon flight over the Masai Mara and a meal at the carnivore restaraunt all organised by Silas.
6 Day Safari to Lakes Naivasha, Nakuru and the Maasai Mara
The communication with Janet, the tour representative, was in depth with very fast responses which was reassuring considering the safari was arranged at very short notice. Gideon, our driver guide, was extremely professional with great knowledge and respect for the animals and environment. He was also very friendly and polite. His wealth of experience put us in the best positions to observe all the animals, unlike other frantic drivers who displayed little patience. We saw all the the big 5 and the ugly 5 including the rare black rhino!
I wouldn’t describe our lodges as luxury but more than adequate with lovely staff (the beds at Nakuru Lodge Hotel were hard and uncomfortable). Having said this, it was good value for money for a family of 5. Our teenagers had an incredible experience which we shall all treasure.

Memorable Safari Adventure, but With Room for Improvement
We booked our safari easily, with quick responses via WhatsApp and smooth payment through Wise. The overall trip was memorable, but there are areas that could be improved.
The tour operator could have provided more details beforehand, such as weather and distances between parks. The jeep had no air-conditioning, so windows stayed open — which meant lots of dust and fumes. The rides were understandably bumpy (“African massage”), but our driver Tom spent more time on the phone than sharing insights about wildlife. Most animals were spotted by following other jeeps, and we often relied on ChatGPT for information instead of the guide.
Accommodation varied:
Amboseli (Sentrim Lodge): Rooms okay, food good, but water issues (no hot water/low pressure).
Lake Naivasha (Sawela Lodge): Excellent stay with spacious rooms and great food.
Lake Nakuru (Ziwa Bush Lodge): Comfortable enough, though water problems again and rain made access tricky.
Masai Mara (Zebra Plains Camp): Scenic, but one room had no hot water for two nights despite repair attempts.
Highlights included the Hell’s Gate bike ride with a fantastic guide and the hot air balloon ride with champagne bush breakfast — although the balloon safari didn’t offer many animal sightings. Unfortunately, the itinerary shifted and we missed one promised game drive in Masai Mara without explanation. We also had to ask about the migration, which was disappointing as the driver gave very little information.
Overall, the safari gave us beautiful memories, but better guiding, clearer communication, and more consistent lodge facilities would have made the experience much stronger.
